Chester - From Forest to Sea

Chester From Forest to Sea
Chester Forest to the Sea Susan Wallen served cookies in the Chester CPL as we gathered to start our ride under sunny skies and temps in the upper 50s.  The ride featured water - lake water, ocean water, and river water.  First water Cedar Lake about a mile away.  The S end of the lake still had some ice but it probably melted before we finished the ride.   Second water Pottaconk Rerservoir.   Some riders coming up the little hill at the S end of the reservoir.  We then climbed a bigger hill on a closed road filled with obstacles including frost heaves, patches of gravel, and downed branches.  Descending the hill required much care, but the scenery was great. Our next point of interest was the Chester airport as we headed for the ocean.  After going under I95 we crossed US1 arriving on the coast at Westbrook.  We took a snack break along the ocean and watched a fellow wax his car. We took CT153 most of the way to Essex where we stopped at the CT River museum . Much of the ride along the river was on what else but River Rd.  pix  Riders approaching the stop sign at Book Hill Rd..  We rode around downtown Deep River taking a rural road along CT9 as we returned to the CPL.   At the end of the ride Susan served more cookies.
