Thursday ride

Tunxis Meade Farmington CT

Thursday & Friday rides leave from Tunxis Meade in Farmington, a location close to the south end of the Farmington Valley Greenway.  Rides typically start on the roads since traffic is light at 9am.  Common destinations include Old Newgate Prison and Riverton, where we will stop for a snack and short break.  Returns normally include the bike path to avoid lunchtime traffic.  Ride range from 40 mi to a metric century at speeds starting around 14 in the spring and sometimes getting to 19 in the fall.  While speeds & distances normally increase over the season, both speed & distance depend on the riders who show up for a ride.  Rides normally last from two and a half to four hours.
While our normal riding season starts in May and ends in October, we'll ride on warm, dry days in Mar/Apr and Nov usually around noon.  We've had several rides leaving from Collinsville on Tuesday mornings as well as a few Saturday or Sunday rides when local clubs haven't scheduled our kind of rides.
Google "Thomas J Quirk Park" for a map to the ride start
